COHPA Membership is for Occupational Health Providers. To be eligible for membership your organisation must provide a broad range of occupational health services (see note 1) holding contracts directly with your clients (i.e. not via an intermediary) and employ an occupational health professional(s) (see note 2) to carry out or oversee those services.
Organisations must usually be working within the Private or Voluntary sectors (see note 3) and can be of any size, from independent practitioners to corporate organisations. You do not have to be a limited company.

- Organisations specialising in a particular / niche area of occupational medicine (for example Occupational Physiotherapy or Occupational Counselling) who do not offer a broad range of Occupational Health services outside of this area will not be eligible for membership, but may want to consider Associate Membership. Nonetheless, providing a broad range of services via subcontracting away from your specific specialism (i.e. an Occ. Physiotherapist subcontracting to an Occupational Physician) is acceptable. (See Note 2 below).
- We are aware that a number of organisations subcontract to other occupational health professionals in order to apply the most relevant skills set to a contract, or to meet geographic requirements. This is acceptable as long as any work (i.e. reports) undertaken by subcontracted professionals is overseen by an occupational health professional directly employed by your organisation.
- Public sector organisations or ‘in-house’ professionals who provide services to wider business (i.e. beyond their own internal remits) may be eligible for membership at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Please contact the COHPA office. NHS Organisations are not eligible for membership as they are able to seek representation to Government through internal channels.
Associate Membership Criteria
Associate membership is open to all ‘stakeholders’ in the occupational health industry working in the Private or Voluntary sectors.

- Organisations who work regularly with occupational health providers in a related service area (such as Health and Safety, or Wellbeing).
- Organisations who regularly provide products or services to occupational health providers (such as OH recruitment, OH software, OH insurance, etc).
